This residential is the ideal place to start if you want to discover the delights of going hill walking in the winter mountains. Over the six days we'll teach you the skills you'll need, whilst going on some great mountain journeys at the same time.
We'll cover all of the essential skills including the use of crampons and ice axes, basic winter navigation, avalanche safety and more, so you have the knowledge and skills to enjoy the winter mountains safely.
Below is an example itinerary (subject to change depending on your group and the weather!):
This will be a week of making new friends, challenging yourself in the winter mountains and having lots of fun. You will also go on a two day mountain expedition where you'll build a snow hole and spend a night out in it too (weather & conditions permitting).
You will be meeting in Aviemore, a town located in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. There is a train station in Aviemore (which has good links to other UK cities).
You will be staying at a local bunkhouse throughout your residential. The bunkhouse is basic but comfortable with a self-catering facilities.
Food will be provided for you throughout the six days and you will be cooking for the group in small teams. We'll provide ingredients for breakfasts, lunches and dinners and also have plenty of snacks. If you have any special dietary requirements, please let us know well in advance so we can cater for you.

Please note that you will need to have B2 or B3 rated mountain boots for this residential. If you don't have a pair of these already then they can be hired locally for approximately £10 per day.
