SAFE Background Information
A programme commissioned by the Department for Education (DfE), the SAFE Taskforces operate in selected locations across the UK to bring together mainstream schools to commission evidence-based interventions to:

The aim of each area Taskforce is to get upstream of serious violence by tackling the indicators that are associated with a young person being more at risk of involvement in serious violence.
Sheffield SAFE Taskforce's Vision
The Sheffield SAFE Taskforce works with organisations to help Sheffield school pupils to:
- Reduce involvement in serious violence;
- Improve social emotional regulation and well-being;
- Improve attendance;
- Improve behaviour in school and the local area.
The primary focus in Sheffield is on the secondary school years 7, 8 and 9 age range.
AE's programmes for Sheffield's SAFE Taskforce
Working with students from all schools across Sheffield, AE has put together a programme of personal and social skills development using outdoor education, woodland and bushcraft activities and outdoor adventurous activities. Programmes last for a minimum of 12 weeks term and pupils are mentored through activities and challenges as well as engaged in small group and 1:1 discussions and sessions targeted at the development of their social skills, linked to the SAFE project aims. Pupils join us each week so that we get to know individuals and can tailor programmes to maximise outcomes.
