Our Residential Programmes
Our aim is for students to go away with plenty of memories, increased confidence and a greater connection to themselves, their peers and the world around them. Residentials are great for:
- Transition to secondary education;
- Curriculum enhancement weeks (e.g. to support CAS aspects of the International Baccalaureate);
- End of year or school residentials;
- BTEC course modules / GCSE rock climbing programmes.
Residentials are designed collaboratively with you to ensure that they are tailored to your students and your specific aims. Read on for ideas and our most popular activities.

Outdoor Activities Residential
Focus: Outdoor activities, team work skills, personal development, adventure and fun
Duration: usually 3 - 5 days
Locations: Peak District, Snowdonia and Lake District
As part of this residential your students will have the opportunity to try out a range of exciting outdoor activities. You will book a local bunkhouse for you and use this as our base. If preferred, we can also set up a 'base camp' at a local campsite. Sessions each day will vary depending on what your chosen location has to offer but usually include rock climbing, abseiling, caving and ghyll scrambling. We can also add some bush craft sessions or an expedition into the week. All food and technical equipment is included, costs vary depending on exact itinerary.
Year groups: Suitable for all year groups at secondary school.

Canoeing Residential (Adventurous Journey)
Focus: Canoeing, expedition, adventure, personal development
Duration: usually 5 days
Locations: Caledonian Canal (Scotland)
A truly fantastic adventure, learning canoeing skills and paddling along one of the UK's iconic waterways including the famous Loch Ness. During the expedition, the students will camp (complete with campfire, weather permitting!) and finish their journey with a nice meal in a local pub. The adventurous journey can also include a combination of walking and canoeing, as well as a cultural visits to Inverness if wanted.
Year groups: Most suitable for older year groups.

Wildlife and Conservation Residential
Focus: Outdoor activities, team work skills, personal development, adventure and fun
Duration: 5 days
Locations: We usually run these in the Peak District, Northumberland and the Isle of Arran but any location is possible.
The John Muir Award is a national environmental award scheme encouraging people of all backgrounds to connect with, enjoy and care for wild places. As part of this residential your students will learn about different habitat, species and conservation projects. They will actively take part in conservation projects and also explore the importance of different habitat types with regard to carbon and water storage and thus climate change (e.g. peat bogs).
Year groups: Suitable for all year groups at secondary school.

Bushcraft Residential
Focus: Bushcraft, team work skills, problem solving, adventure and fun
Duration: usually 3 - 5 days
Locations: across the UK
As part of this residential your students will learn all about basic but all-important necessities include shelter building, water sourcing, food, foraging, the safe building of campfires, and campfire cooking. This residential includes a wide range of team building activities and works well as a transition residential or end of year camp.
Year groups: Especially suitable for Year 6/7 transition and younger year groups.

Winter Mountain Residential
Focus: Winter skills, team work, adventure
Duration: usually 5 days
Locations: Cairngorms (Scotland)
Join us in Scotland for a brilliant week in the mountains in Winter. You will work with our highly experienced instructor team and enjoy some fantastic days out in the snow. Learning skills for winter walking using crampons and ice axes, digging snow holes (a great team challenge!) and avalanche awareness. We can also build a day of skiing or winter mountaineering, the exact itinerary can be designed to suit your preferences and budget. You will be based at a comfortable bunkhouse throughout where students will cook their own meals in teams and enjoy cosy evenings by the fire.
Year groups: Most suitable for older year groups.

Summer Mountain Residential
Focus: Mountains, team work skills, personal development, adventure and fun
Duration: usually 5 days
Locations: Snowdonia, Lake District, Cairngorms
The mountainous areas of the UK offer opportunities for a fantastic adventurous outdoor activity residential. Our experienced team guide you and your participants through the essential skills needed to operate in different activities in the hills before going on to use these skills to have a number of high level adventures and experiences: scrambling up ghylls, along mountain ridges and enjoying some spectacular views too! Some of your students may also want to challenge themselves to hike up one of the highest mountains in the UK, which can be incorporated into the week's activities.
