Inspiring Mountain Experiences
The mountainous areas of the UK offer opportunities for the ultimate adventurous activity residential. Working with experienced Mountaineering Instructors, develop a 3 to 7-day programme in Snowdonia, the Lake District, Peak District or Highlands of Scotland, to suit all levels of ability or the level of challenge that is right for your group – no experience needed, just enthusiasm!
From a comfortable bunkhouse base, our experienced team guide you and your participants through the essential skills needed to operate in different activities in the hills before going on to use these skills to have a number of high level adventures and experiences.
Past participants joining Summer Mountain Experiences have been inspired to undertake placements in outdoor education centres, train for outdoor qualifications, gain experience for careers in the armed forces and go on to experience Winter adventures - a lasting testament to the power of the outdoors and experienced mentors.
Programme Outlines
Courses range from 3 to 7 days depending on what you would like to achieve, the time you have available and the programme cost you would like to achieve. Choose from activities such as:
- All levels of rock climbing from introducing outdoor rock through to lead climbing coaching and guided mountain multi-pitch classics;
- Scrambling and mountaineering taking in airy ridges, classic traverses and equipping participants with the skills to look after themselves;
- Adventurous high-level hill walks incorporating navigational challenges or certificates (e.g. NNAS Awards) and overnight expeditions with wild camps and star gazing;
- Outdoor activities including abseiling, ghyll scrambling, weaselling, caving, mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking and bushcraft skills - depending on the location you would like to visit.
The instructors leading your programme are experienced Mountaineering Instructors (MCI and WMCI holders), the highest UK professional qualifications available. This means there is a great deal of flexibility in what you can do - it is your programme and we tailor the itinerary to your aims, weather permitting!

Prices include: all instruction and guiding, arrival day/evening session, all accommodation costs (our bases are comfortable bunkhouses in your chosen location), food for the programme (we supply the ingredients for breakfasts, packed lunches and a nutritious evening meal each evening along with menu cards for the group to cook with, instructors take a turn too!), free use of any specialist equipment used (e.g. ropes, harnesses, rock shoes, helmets, climbing hardwear).
Prices vary according to your choice of activities and itinerary - we work with you to develop an itinerary that meets your chosen budget.
You need to arrange: Transport to/from your chosen location, personal kit for participants (we provide comprehensive kit lists and have stocks of personal kit available for participants to hire if necessary).
