Adventure Days

We aim to create days that are full of nature, creativity, laughs and a firm sense of freedom. Days are designed for young people aged 5 - 11 years old and are led by experienced outdoor instructors.

Adventure Days will be spent exploring different environments and activities from a beautiful location on the edge of the Peak District National Park. With endless opportunities for adventure and activities abounding on the doorstep, we're all set to go.

Activities:

Each day will be different and we will concentrate on a range of activities each day. These might be based around one core theme or activity for the day or there might be a series of activities of differing lengths. Some sessions will be based within the grounds or woods of Whiteley Wood OAC or we might explore the area from the site on foot together in search of different habitats, creatures or adventures. We will always include breaks for lunch and snacks during the day so that everyone stays fed and watered.

Bushcraft, Campfires and Bushcraft Skills – use of basic bushcraft tools to make fires and whittle tools, and build shelters with ropes and natural materials from the forest.

Adventure Activities - Adventure activities might include climbing on or over parts of the forest, roped tree climbs (with harnesses and safety ropes), scrambling up and down different types of terrain, exploring water environments such as shallow streams, rivers and pools.

Nature Days - looking at different types of flora and fauna, pond dipping, catching minibeasts, helping to protect and conserve different types of nature and potentially undertaking some relevant conservation work.

Arts and crafts - different arts and crafts projects using nature or natural items found in the forest.
