Bushcraft & Wilderness Survival Skills Residential, West Yorkshire
Join us for a five-day residential in West Yorkshire, for the opportunity to try a range of Bushcraft activities to learn how to be at home in the woods. Make new friends and challenge yourself while exploring the area and having lots of fun.
Example itinerary (the order of activities might depend on the weather and group preferences):
Day One:
Introduction to woodland camping, safety and considerations. Participants learn to set up a basecamp to work from for the week, including a shared canopied shelter and individual tarps for sleeping. Firewood requirements and basic hygiene systems.
Cooking an evening meal as a group with a campfire. Safe tool use techniques and methodology.
Day Two:
Morning: Shelter building, natural shelters for comfort and reducing the need for tarps and tents. Understanding human biological requirements for warmth and good sleep.
Afternoon: Fire lighting skills for practical use, focusing on firesteels and natural tinders.
Evening: night hike and accessing our senses
Day Three:
Morning: Beds and bedding options, using natural materials to make a comfortable bed and remove the need for a roll mat
Afternoon: Finding and processing water to make it safe to drink. We’re now able to meet our water needs without carrying jerry cans into the woods.
Safe knife use applied to make cooking rigs for boiling water over a fire.
Evening: cordage making
Day Four:
Morning: Friction fire lighting, working in teams to understand, build and learn to use a bow drill for reliable fire lighting in the woods. No longer requiring the firesteel to make fire.
Afternoon: Building a ground oven for the big feast.
Day Five:
Morning: deconstructing camp and leaving no trace ethos
Afternoon: hiking out over the heath to see the landscape barefoot.
Location
You’ll have your bushcraft experience from one of our woodland venues in West Yorkshire.
Accommodation
You’ll be camped in the woods, with access to a simple loo. You’ll stay under a tarp or maybe even in your natural shelter, you’ll just need to bring a sleeping bag. *Note sleeping bags can be provided if needed, please get in touch if you would like to use one of ours.
Food
Food is included for the duration of your programme. We'll provide breakfasts, lunches and dinners and also have plenty of snacks. If you have any special dietary requirements, please let us know well in advance so we can cater for you.

These programmes are set up for participants who are completely independent and can attend without any additional support. If you (or the person you're booking for) has any additional needs please contact us before booking; we'll be able to advise on suitability and discuss whether any necessary adjustments can be made.
