Bunkhouse
The vast majority of our Residentials are based in bunkhouses, which are a basic type of indoor accommodation but with all the facilities you’ll need during the week. While basic, they will be comfortable and the places you’ll call home for the duration of your Residential. You will need to bring your own pillow, single bed sheet and sleeping bag as the bunkhouses we use don’t provide these.
On arrival at the bunkhouse you will be allocated your dorm room, which tends to be between 4 & 10 people. Typically your bunkhouse dorm room will be made up of bunkbeds. There may be plugs available to charge your phone, but these will be limited for the amount of people sharing your room, so we recommend bringing a portable charger if you have one.
We will always separate you out into male & female rooms and endeavour where possible to split this into under 18s & over 18s too where space allows. If we can’t do this however and need to mix under & over 18s, we will be in touch to check that you’re happy with this. If you have any questions relating to this do let me know and our team can explain the situation.
Food
Food will be provided for the duration of your Residential, except for Day 1 where we ask you to bring a packed lunch so we can head straight out on activity once you have arrived and met your fellow participants.
Each evening small groups within your Residential group will take it in turns to cook for the wider group. One of your instructors will be present, and will help you where needed. You will be provided with recipe cards which you’ll follow to create your meal. Typically this will be an easy to cook one pot meal such as Curry, Chilli, Bolognese etc. Substitutes will be provided for those with dietary requirements too.
Each morning, you will help yourself to breakfast where we’ll have a range of cereal, fruit, pastries, toast, tea and coffee. You will also need to make your packed lunch for the day using the sandwich ingredients provided as well as the wide variety of snacks provided such as crisps, fruit, and sweet items. The team will also ensure to take snacks with them out on activity to ensure you’re never hungry throughout the day.
Please provide full details of your dietary requirements on your consent form as soon as possible so we can cater to your needs, it is not a problem at all. Likewise, if anything does change once you have submitted your consent form do not hesitate to get in touch and let us know.
